01 · Install and first-run setup

  1. Install Alayo Get from the Chrome Web Store (coming soon).
  2. After installing, the setup page opens on its own. Choose a local folder there as your library; everything you save is written to that folder. If you skipped this step, the panel tells you no library is chosen the first time you click the Alayo Get icon in the toolbar, and takes you to the setup page.
  3. If you don’t see the icon, click the puzzle-piece Extensions button and pin Alayo Get to the toolbar.
  4. The first time you save after restarting the browser, Chrome asks you to allow access to the library folder once more. This is how Chrome’s File System Access API works, not a fault. Choose “Allow on every visit” in the prompt and you won’t be asked again after future restarts.

02 · How to save

Saving the same page again never overwrites an existing file.

03 · Where your files go

Markdown and media files sit side by side at the top level of your library, one visible file per save. There are two more folders:

Both names start with a dot. macOS Finder hides them by default; Windows File Explorer shows them. Don’t delete or rename them on their own, or the images in your clips and the sources of your media files can no longer be found.

04 · Using it with Alayo Workbench (optional)

If you use Alayo Workbench, add your library folder as a watched folder in Workbench to organize your clips on the canvas, one card per clip. Alayo Get works the same whether or not you use Workbench.

05 · Privacy

Alayo Get has no account, does not upload what you save, and sends no data to us or to any third party. See the privacy policy.
