01 · Start capturing

  1. Open Alayo Notes on iPhone with iOS 26 or later. You do not need an Alayo account.
  2. Type in the capture bar and tap its button to save. The app recognizes tasks, notes, events, finance entries and clips without requiring you to classify first.
  3. With an empty input, hold the capture button to record and release to finish. Audio is saved before on-device transcription. You can play it and correct the text. If transcription is unavailable, the original recording is retained.
  4. Add selected photos or paste an image; each capture holds up to 9 photos. After sharing to Alayo Notes from another app, open the main app to save the shared text or link. Image sharing currently carries only a title/comment, not the image itself; add photos through the main app’s picker or Paste.

02 · Trial, Core and restore

Capturing is always free. You can actively claim a free 14-day trial in Settings through a zero-price App Store product. There is no automatic renewal or charge, and you can skip it. The trial starts at the original first-claim transaction date; reinstalling or restoring does not restart it.

Core is a separate one-time purchase. Its US launch price is US$9.99 for the first 30 days after public release, then US$19.99. Check the price shown by the App Store in the app for your region. Core does not include future Plus cloud services.

After the trial expires without Core, you can still capture and view the most recent 7 days of the timeline. Search, Smart Views and date navigation require Core. Your existing Vault files are not deleted.

Choose Restore Purchases in the Core section of Views → Settings, using the Apple Account used for the purchase. Restore checks Apple’s transaction records. If approval is pending, a purchase is canceled, or products are temporarily unavailable, continue capturing and try again when connected. Request refunds through Apple’s Report a Problem service; Apple decides the outcome.

03 · iCloud and file location

Check Views → Settings → About → Vault location. When an iCloud container is available, the Vault lives in the Alayo Notes folder in iCloud Drive, including Markdown and original photo and audio assets. Otherwise, the app uses local iPhone Documents.

Local and iCloud files are not migrated automatically. Before changing Apple Accounts, disabling iCloud or reinstalling, locate and back up the entire Alayo Notes folder in Files. Sync progress, network access, iCloud storage and Apple service availability affect when files arrive.

If content is out of date, first confirm the original files have downloaded in Files, then return to Alayo Notes. Rebuild Index in Settings rereads the files; it cannot recover missing originals. Inspect conflicting versions and keep copies before replacing files.

04 · Photos, audio and permissions

The system photo picker provides only the photos you select without requiring full photo-library access. Original photos may retain capture time, device or location metadata; review these before exporting or sharing.

Recording needs microphone permission. On-device transcription depends on the device, language and system speech resources. Initial resource preparation may require a download. Denying permission does not block text capture. Check available permissions in iPhone Settings → Apps → Alayo Notes; notifications can also be managed in system notification settings.

If reminders are enabled, task or event text may appear on the Lock Screen. Adjust notification previews in system settings.

05 · Deletion, backups and external content

Deleted captures go to Trash and can be restored before cleanup. The app applies its 30-day retention rule when cleanup runs; this does not promise immediate erasure from every device and backup at a precise time. Archiving is not deletion.

Uninstalling may delete local files. iCloud files, other devices and backups may retain copies. Check the location, sync status and backups before permanently deleting your Vault. We do not hold a copy of your Vault and cannot recover lost notes for you.

Remote Markdown images are not downloaded by default. Tapping Load image contacts the original image server. External links open in your browser or another app and are subject to the recipient’s privacy practices.

Include your iOS and Alayo Notes versions, steps and the error you see. Remove private information from screenshots or sample files first. You do not need to send an Apple Account password, your entire Vault or payment card details. You choose what to send; the app does not automatically attach notes or diagnostics.

The initial release is for iPhone. A Mac app, Plus cloud processing and automatic AI tagging are not included. See the Privacy Policy for details about data handling.
